In a significant diplomatic breakthrough, the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah and the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani have accepted Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s invitation to visit Pakistan. This development marks a major stride in strengthening Pakistan’s relations with both Gulf states.

On Sunday, the ambassadors of Kuwait and Qatar met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and presented letters from their respective leaders, confirming their acceptance of the invitation.

During a meeting, Kuwaiti Ambassador Nassar Abdulrahman Jasser Al-Mutairi handed over a letter from the Emir of Kuwait to Prime Minister Sharif. The letter conveyed the Emir’s acceptance of the invitation and proposed mutually agreed dates for the visit. Prime Minister Sharif recalled his recent interaction with the Kuwaiti Emir at the World Economic Forum on April 28, 2024, expressing satisfaction that the next Pakistan-Kuwait Joint Ministerial Commission meeting is scheduled to be held in Kuwait from May 28-30. He emphasized the importance of thorough preparations for the Emir’s visit to ensure mutually beneficial outcomes.

Similarly, Qatar’s envoy to Pakistan, Mubarak Ali Essa Al-Khater, met with the prime minister and presented a letter from the Emir of Qatar. The letter confirmed the Emir’s acceptance of the invitation to visit Pakistan on mutually convenient dates. Prime Minister Sharif expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Qatari Emir and highlighted the deep, historic brotherly relations between Pakistan and Qatar. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to deepening mutually beneficial cooperation between the two nations.

Prime Minister Sharif emphasized the importance of starting preparations for the high-level visits, with exchanges of delegations between the capitals of both countries. He stressed that these visits should be productive and beneficial for all parties involved.
