Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, Special Assistant to Punjab Chief Minister, made a stunning comment on the Ghotki Incident. “By the grace of Almighty Allah, this is the first railway catastrophe that has occurred in the year 2021 since the administration came into power,” she remarked.

The people reacted angrily to Firdous’ remarks, calling it “unbelievable.”

“What have we done to deserve this?” a lady posted on Twitter in response to Firdous’ words.

Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan clarified her contentious remarks on Twitter. “This is the first significant train collision in 15 months. In this sense, one of my utterances has been taken out of context.”

According to police and rescue authorities, two express trains collided in Sindh’s Ghotki on Monday, killing over 50 people and injuring over 100 more.

Firdous’ remarks was viewed as inadequate and without empathy at the sad events of Ghotki.
