The Christian community in Lahore has filed a complaint with the Federal Investigation Agency’s Cyber Wing, accusing TikToker Jannat Mirza of “disrespecting” the sacred cross.
Saleem Silvester and other Christian pastors from Youhanabad filed a complaint with the Federal Investigation Office in Gulberg, accusing Mirza of publishing a video on a video-sharing website in which she can be seen dangling a holy cross on her pant’s zipper.
The complaint brought up a video from earlier this week that went viral, in which the TikTok star can be seen performing alongside fellow celebrity Umer Fayaz Butt.

According to the lawsuit, Jannat Mirza committed blasphemy while knowing that the Cross is the primary symbol for commemorating Jesus Christ’s crucifixion in Christian beliefs, and hence holds fundamental value in Christianity.

The complaint goes on to say that Ms Mirza’s actions have wounded the feelings of thousands of Christians in Pakistan and that a case should be filed against her and she should be punished according to the law.
Deliberate and intentional activities designed to offend religious sensibilities of any class by disparaging their religion or religious beliefs are illegal under PPC section 295-A.
The act’s infringement is punishable by imprisonment of any kind for a duration up to 10 years, a fine, or both.
