Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has offered a heartfelt farewell to Lata Mangeshkar, the great Indian vocalist who departed on Sunday morning at the age of 92.

The ‘Zaroori Tha’ singer labeles Lata Mangeshkar’s demise, the “saddest day” for the entertainment industry in a video clip.

He thanks Lata Mangeshkar and her home for their contributions to the music world.

The singer also prayed for the soul of the dearly departed.

Rahat had previously uploaded a flashback photo of Lata alongside Nusrat Fateh Ali on Instagram, writing, “No one can or will ever be like Lata Ji.”

“Deeply grieved to learn of the tragic loss of the musical sensation, Her voice touched our souls, and her legacy, humility, and simplicity will inspire generations to come,” Rahat wrote.

Lata died on Sunday in a Mumbai hospital after being taken to its acute care unit with Covid-19 symptoms on January 11.
