According to reports released Thursday, a complaint has been filed against JUI cleric Mufti Aziz ur Rehman, his sons, and two other unnamed males after a video of the priest sexually abusing a pupil went viral on social media.

When the police came to the student’s local madrassa in Lahore after the video went popular on social media, the case was lodged on the student’s complaint, according to the reports.

Rehman, a former JUI-F leader, allegedly sexually molested the student, after which the cleric’s sons began blackmailing and threatening to murder him, according to the student.

“I will commit suicide if justice is not done,” the survivor added.

The administrator of the madrassa where Rehman worked had announced the cleric’s dismissal the day before.

Rehman and his sons had been asked to leave the madrassa, according to Superintendent Asadullah Farooq, and the institution was not liable for any of their actions.

Meanwhile, the secretary-general of the JUI-F Lahore issued a notification indicating that the party had suspended Mufti Rehman’s membership following the video and that it would stay revoked until the inquiry was completed.

Meanwhile, Mufti Aziz ur Rehman claimed that the video was from two and a half years ago and that the student was being “used against” him.

“I swear on oath that I did not commit such an act while aware; I was given anything intoxicating while unconscious,” he said.
