Saudi Arabia promises allowing Chinese vaccines for Hajj pilgrims

During his meeting with Sindh Chief Minister Nawaf Saeed A. Al Maliki, Saudi Arabia’s ambassador in Pakistan, Nawaf Saeed A. Al Maliki promised to authorise the Chinese COVID-19 vaccination for Pakistani pilgrims visiting Saudi Arabia.

The ambassador from the Kingdom told Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah that the Chinese Covid vaccinations would be approved, allowing Pakistanis to travel to the Kingdom for Hajj and Umrah.

At the Chief Minister’s House on Friday, Shah met with Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Nawaf Saeed A Al Maliki, as well as the Kingdom’s Consul General, Bandar Al Dayal, and a team from the King Salman Relief Organization.

The Kingdom has already modified its travel restrictions, requiring Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson vaccinations in order to enter the country, while leaving out five Chinese vaccinations. As of yet, no Chinese-made coronavirus vaccinations for tourists have been licenced in Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia and the European Union have also imposed restrictions on passengers who have received Chinese vaccinations.
